Why does my PageMaker 4.2 document have different line and page breaks when opened in PageMaker 5.0 or later?

PageMaker 5.0 and newer versions recognize tracking information files by a file named Tracking Values and searches for this file, first in the folder containing the open publication, then in the folder named "Aldus" in the "System" folder.

To retain tracking information for PM 4.2 publications, copy the PageMaker 4.x Kern Tracks file (found in the "Aldus" folder) to the folder containing the specific publication and rename the Kern Tracks file to "Tracking Values". This will trick PageMaker into using the older tracking information for your publication.
